Dissemination event for the 17th edition of the World Bank Group’s Rwanda Economic Update (REU)

Date : Wednesday 04/08/2021, 1pm Kigali time.
Targeted audience : EPRN Members and Academia (public and private universities)

1. Background

Published twice a year, the REU is a flagship publication for the World Bank that analyzes recent economic developments and prospects, as well as Rwanda’s policy priorities. The REU is intended for a wide audience of policymakers, business leaders, other market participants, analysts of Rwanda’s economy, and civil society. It draws on data reported by the Government of Rwanda and additional information collected by the World Bank Group (WBG) in its regular economic monitoring and policy dialogue. The update is a collective endeavor, and this issue involved staff from several parts of the WBG. The REU also provides an in-depth examination of a selected economic or policy issue.

This analytical work, the findings and recommendations present a prime opportunity for Government, the private sector and the WBG to discuss new policy directions that would support Rwanda’s continued investment in critical development priorities in the post-COVID era without undermining public debt sustainability.

The current edition of the Rwanda Economic Update (REU) focuses on the role of the private sector in closing the infrastructure gap. The World Bank launched this flagship report virtually on July 22, 2021 and as part of dissemination activities, the WB wishes to have a more in-depth conversation with researchers and academia about the report findings and the World Bank’s proposals. This event is scheduled online on August 04th, 2021, 1pm Kigali Time.
