Boosting Domestic Savings in Rwanda
The Economic Policy Research Network in partnership with United Nations Development Program in Rwanda held a policy dialogue to discuss on “Boosting Domestic Savings in Rwanda” authored by Professor John Serieux from the University of Manitoba at Serena Hotel Kigali on 4th October 2019. The policy dialogue started with opening remarks from representatives from EPRN, MINECOFIN AND UNDP Rwanda.
The policy dialogue would then have Professor John Serieux present about his research which triggered questions and comments from the audience. Some of the most interesting highlights was that Rwandans are good at saving but unfortunately these savings are not utilized to generate investments. The policy dialogue would then take form a policy dialogue with consisted of representatives from Access to finance Rwanda, World Bank, MINECOFIN and Professor John Serieux moderated the Chief Economist of Rwanda.
The policy dialogue was attended by more than 100 representatives from public institutions, Non-government organizations, banks, academicians and Development partners. The policy dialogue was concluded with a lunch at Serena Hotel for networking purposes.
