EPRN Training on “Strategic Human Resource Management”
A weekend training on “Strategic Human Resource Management” organized by EPRN took place at UR-CBE/Gikondo campus from 03-05 May 2019 (8am – 5pm). The trainer was Dr. NDEZE Pierre Damien (PhD in Human Resource Management). Human Resources represent the dynamic force that allows a brand, business or organization to function. As such, the performance of an organization is determined almost entirely by the strength of its staff. From Importance of Human Resource Management ; Recruitment and placement ; Compensation and benefits ; Human Resource Development ; Performance and appraisal ; Relationship and conflict management. The HR manager plays a critical role in building and optimizing the team. Which is exactly why from a corporate perspective, a competent and capable HR professional represents one of the most valued part of all business assets.
During the training, Dr. NDEZE Pierre Damien took a participatory, practical visual approach and group presentation to facilitate the trainees working in areas related to projects management in general and/or human resource management specifically to understand and address issues confronting both individuals and organizations. Coursework focused on workplace topics such as human relations and communications, training and development, staffing skills and strategies, and leadership within the workplace.
Among participants were : HR Professionals, Business owners, Managers, University students, research fellows, independent Organizations, lecturers, and consultants. During the training, the exchange of comments and questions were encouraged and the trainer assisted everyone during the exercises through giving detailed explanations. Most of the training consisted of practical and theoretical learning. Exercises were given throughout the training to put into practice the theories and knowledge gained. During the training, groups’ assignments, exchange of comments and questions were encouraged to be able to refine the work and the trainer assisted every group during the assignment by giving some rectifications.
The training was very successful and participants showed high interest in Strategic Human Resource Management skills which are crucial for understanding the key strategic HR issues and trends that are relevant to today’s HR managers as well as learning how to design and implement a HR information system and also to know how to integrate job descriptions and performance evaluations and understand the principles and applications of performance benchmarking. As a result, majority of them suggested that EPRN should conduct an advanced training on Strategic Human Resource Management.
At the end of the course, the trainer delivered a test and all the participants passed the course with at least 68%.
